Forest soil is the basic of renewable forest resource, but the soil itself is practically non – renewable – only organic matter from above – and belowground litter slowly accumulates in forest soil. The formation of the physical structure of forest soil with distinct soil horizons has taken thousands of years while disturbances may be rapid. The present book describes forest soils and carbon storage, temperature and conditions of sandy soil, soil acidity and plant growth, forest soil fertility management and conservation, biological and chemical aspects of soil productivity and nutrients in the soil organic matter.
