Padmashri Awardee Prof. A.N. Purohit set up India’s first Alpine Center at a 13000-ft elevation in Tungnath. He also helped the Government of India develop “G.B. Pant Himalayan Institute of Environment and development (GBPHIED) “ and the Govt. of Uttarakhand in establishing the “Centre for Aromatic Plants” in Dehradun. Prof. A.N.
