About the Book
The Western Ghats constitute a 1600 km long mountain chain along the west coast of India, and has been earmarked by Conservation International as one of 34 global biodiversity hotspots. In this study, the distribution of all known dragonfly and damselfly species was mapped using GIS tools. India is home to 488 species and 27 subspecies in 153 genera and 18 families, of which 193 species in 83 genera and 14 families have been found in the Western Ghats. Out of these 74 species are endemic to the region.
