About the Book
Ranee Kumar is a journalist. Her experience spans across two decades working with Indian Express, The Hindu, Deccan Chronicle and Eenadu (English) from Hyderabad, both on editorial desk and reporting field. She has dealt and written extensively on varied subjects from politics to business to art and culture. She's been freelancing for past 7 yrs in art and culture. She has also written a novel Song to Silence and edits attenDance, the yearbook. She is based in Dehradun. Ashish Khokar, son of pioneering dance scholar-collector Mohan Khokar and veteran dancer-guru M.K.Saroja , is a reputed dance critic-historian with 45 published books to credit and over 5000 articles in 40 years of writing dance. A product of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Delhi , he is also a merit-lister in Indian History from the University of Delhi (St.Stephens and Hindu). He served the Delhi State Akademi, INTACH and Festivals of India in France, Sweden, Germany and China in the 1980s. He made seminal dance TV programmes; hosted and curated many dance festivals and is on many boards and committees like the ICCR under India's foreign ministry ; Delhi state akademi - the SKP; think tanks like the IIC; BIC and CIC. He has served dance panels of national television - Doordarshan and festivals like the Khajuraho. A collaborator and ex board member of the Alliance Francaise, he is advisor to the Neemarana Group of Heritage Hotels , to name a few. He visits many educational and cultural institutions worldwide teaching special courses on Indian dance heritage and history. He has written 85 Modules for MS university, Baroda for UGC e-pathshala M.A. Internet course on Indian dance. For last 23 years , he edits and publishes India’s only yearbook on dance –attendance. He was the Dance Critic of the Times of India for two decades in Delhi, then Bangalore.
