The study and teaching of Ayurveda, an ancient Indian method of treatment and the philosophy of life have become popular abroad. The first book titled A Handbook of Ayurveda is part of the curriculum in the Australian School of Ayurveda, situated in Edled, Southern Australia. This text presents all the viewpoints of Ayurveda in a concise manner. It is broadly classified into four parts: (1) The primary viewpoint /philosophy; (2) the method of treatment; (3) primary medicinal herbs and other materials; and (4) disease and its treatment. The text is supplemented with tabulations, pictorial representations and diagrams for a clear enunciation of the concepts. The absence of such a valuable book in Hindi language is fulfilled by this translated work ? Ayurveda Nideshika. It will be helpful to the students of Ayurveda who are not exposed to the English language and it is hoped to serve the needs of the common readers, especially women. The purpose of this book has been established world over, wherein it has been translated into Italian and Japanese languages too
