The impact of internet on children and adolescent psychiatry in India and how pornography should be seen is one of the most contentious issues to have arisen in recent years in connection to the internet. The ubiquitous availability of pornography on the internet has sparked a "moral panic" among the parents, government, law enforcement agencies such as police, prosecutors, and courts and the media in general. Governments and law enforcement agencies all over the globe have made several attempts to curb the availability of pornographic content of the internet. There is no agreed - upon definition of pornography , either in any country or in the multinational context of the internet, where cultural, moral and legal differences all over the world make it impossible to describe 'pornographic content' in a way that is acceptable to everyone. This book argues that effective implementation, enforcement and harmonization of laws could substantially help to reduce the availability and dissemination of child pornography on the internet.
