About the Author: Dr. Savita Mittal , is presently working as In-charge Librarian in the scale of PB-4 in Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. She is Deputy Librarian since 2007 in the same university. Before this, she was Assistant Librarian in the same university. Prior to joining Indraprastha University, she was a regular faculty in the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Library & Information Science, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science from Punjabi University, Patiala and Master’s from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. She was full time research fellow in the Department of Library Science with fellowship in K.U., Kurukshetra and awarded Doctorate in 1993. Her research was on the topic entitled “Information Seeking Behaviour of Economists: a Selective Study of Universities of Punjab, Haryana, and U.T. (Chandigarh)”. She holds the distinction of being the first to be awarded with the Ph.D. degree in the field of Library Science by K.U., Kurukshetra. She also holds the degrees of Master’s in Public Administration, Post-graduate Diploma in Computer Applications and Post-graduate Diploma in Local Area Networks. In total, she possesses more than 28 years of rich teaching, research and administrative experience in the field of Library Science. Her area of interest includes: Academic Library System, Library Administration and Management, Library Automation and Networking. She has to her credit many research papers published in reputed journals and has authored five books entitled: (1) Digital Library Resources, (2) Modern Library Administration and Automation, (3) Women and Library Profession, (4) E-Resources and Libraries in India and (5) Dictionary of Terms in Library and Information Science. She also has attended many prestigious national and international conferences, orientation and refresher courses, workshops and panel discussions. She has visited many libraries in India and abroad. She has also organised many Book Exhibitions and invited leading publishers of national and international fame to display books in campus. In addition to this, she also supervised project work of students at Masters level.
