Seed yield has no gene per se. It is a complex character. It is controlled by the action and interaction of many independent variables. Correlation measures the relationship between any two variables. But, the causal basis of such relationship is determined by path coefficient analysis. Path coefficient analysis gives a clear cut idea about the direct and indirect effects of the independent variables towards the dependent variable.
This book has been written primarily for post-graduate scholars and researchers in plant breeding and genetics. The authors have attempted to write it so simple and comprehensive manner. The special feature of the book is the collection and presentation of literature related to correlation and causation. Data have been given elaborately and have been discussed with the available literature.
