About the Book

Examining the pitfalls of prevailing social construct of caste and gender discrimination, the writer unmasks the various dimensions which categorize Dalit women a different body under the umbrella of patriarchal practices. The identity of a Dalit woman is marked by the oppressive social structures—Caste and Patriarchy especially Brahmanical patriarchy. While discussing as well as exploring the marginalization position of Dalit women, this book also delves into the evolution of caste and untouchability, the emergence of patriarchy, the different sets of patriarchy, and polygamy which are equally accountable for subjugating and controlling female sexuality. The book also tells us the way Dalit women are thrown away from the mainstream society, and the way they are treated as 'other body' among 'others'. It also historically talks about the dalit women's exclusion on the basis of gender from the different Dalit Movements, male political campaigns as well as various literary agencies.
