This book is part of the labour of our love with transdisciplinary scholarship, desire for social justice, especially for people, practices, products, and episteme(s) beyond confines. Our discard is the subject of comprehension and delineation in this book. Discard studies calls for social inclusion and intersectional perspectives. The rubric of discard studies may be new to India but only from a renewed standpoint. We have taken a step to funnel the voluminous work and situate our teamwork on issues of waste production and waste management in a specific context, Patna, where community approach and governance needs to pay attention with accountability for minimum discard. We need to practice responsible consumption for sustainability of our people and our planet. About the Author: Dr. Papia Raj is an Associate Professor at Indian Institute of Technology Patna(IITP), Bihar. She completed her PhD degree as a Commonwealth Fellow from McGill University and was a post-doctoral fellow at University of British Columbia. She has received research funding from several national and international organisations and has extensively published her research findings in journals of great repute. Dr Aditya Raj is an Associate Professor at Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IITP), Bihar. He completed his doctorate, as a Commonwealth Fellow, from McGill University in 2007 after which he was working at the University of British Columbia. Dr Aditya has received several awards and honors as well as presented and published in various national and international forums.
