About the Book

The present study has been undertaken to examine the nature and extent of relationship between economic development and environment in an international as well as Indian context. The study is based on an appropriate theories, concepts, tools and techniques. A very clear relationship between economic development and environmental quality has been found in most of the cases of environmental indicators. Many environmental indicators have positive relationship with economic development and others have negative relationship. Also some environmental indicators have non linear i.e. inverted U type relationship. The study also identifies the factors underlying relationship between economic development and environment and provides policy suggestions for bringing about more balanced and sustainable economic development. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dr. Kuldeep Singh is an Assistant Professor in Economics at Department of Post Graduate Studies, Punjabi University Regional Centre, Bathinda (Punjab) and has been teaching Economics for the last ten years. He did his Ph.D. in Economics from Punjab School of Economics, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. He has many research papers to his credit, presented in various national and international seminars and conferences and has published a number of research papers in refereed national and international journals. His areas of interest are Economics of Growth & Development and Environmental Economics.
