The North East India comprising eight states is located in the easternmost part of India bordering to different international countries and is the home to different variegated tribes, flora and fauna. These people of north east India are living from time immemorial. They have their own language, faiths, beliefs and practices. Being indigenous group of people, they have their time tested and age old ethnomedical beliefs and practices. At one point of time when there was no modern medical facilities, the people entirely resort to such indigenous healing system. Still many of the tribes who are isolated and far from the accessibility of the modern medical amenities stick to such indigenous healing system. Many of the ethnic groups of the region also practice medical pluralism, the indigenous healing systems as well as any other healing system (s) such as modern allopathic or what's so called alternative medicines. The volume “Indigenous Health and Healing Practices of the People of North East India” contains twenty five research papers presented by different scholars working in the field of health research in North East India. Contemporary research works on the themes like ethno-medicine, nutrition and demography of different populations are contained in the present volume.
