The book is an outcome of the national seminar on the theme Historical Development in Northeast India: Trends and Perspectives. The papers published in this book are selected and revised versions of the papers presented during the seminar with the addition of a few invited papers. The book identifies the trends in the historical developments in Northeast India on a wide variety of issues pertaining to humanities and social sciences. The papers in the book discuss various perspectives on archaeology, environment, women, press, costumes, and also on the oral traditions and the literary texts towards the reconstructionof history of Northeast India.
