When the head follows the heart and one finds meaning in what one is doing, there is deep involvement in activities and human interactions significantly contributing to improving the quality of life of self and others. Yet, there comes a time when chord needs to be cut, control needs to let go and detachment becomes necessary to strive for spiritual growth. Mridula Seth experienced the dilemmas of attachment-detachment in her personal and professional life which are reflected in her poems written over three decades. She believes that when adults work with young people, they also enhance their own life skills. This is a lifelong process of learning and finding spaces to experience happiness within the given constraints. After teaching for over two decades and serving as an advisor in the UN system for nine years, Mridula Seth is enjoying volunteering with drug dependent juveniles in conflict with law and working with people suffering from mental illnesses.
