This research work, titled ‘Intertextual and Intratextual Readings of the Gospel of Matthew: Mt 12:15–21 as a Paradigm,’ by Regina Komban is a scientific study which explores how the fulfilment quotation in the Gospel of Matthew 12:18–21 from the prophetic book of Isaiah 42:1–4 could be considered one of the most pointed intertexts of the Gospel, by applying the principles of intertextuality as a hermeneutical key. The author unravels the intertextual and intratextual dimensions of Mt 12:15-21, presenting a comprehensive analysis that bridges the text with its broader scriptural context and internal narrative coherence. It will surely help future scholars to investigate how the evangelist engages with and is informed by other biblical texts and to understand the thematic motifs and internal resonances within the gospel of Matthew itself. Indeed, this rigorous research opens new horizons for exegetes as well as theologians to deepen their understanding of the gospel through careful exegesis and theological reflection and to appreciate the narrative web of the gospel of Matthew.
