About the Book
The Islamic State (IS) also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is a jihadist group, widely regarded as a terrorist organisation. ISIS's original aim was to establish a caliphate in the Sunni-majority regions of Iraq. Following its involvement in the Syrian Civil War, this expanded to include controlling Sunni-majority areas of Syria. A caliphate was proclaimed on 29 June 2014, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi?now known as Amir al-Mu'minin Caliph Ibrahim?was named as its caliph, and the group was renamed the Islamic State. A recent move by al-Qaeda's wing in Syria, the al-Nusra Front, illustrates again the importance of social media for the global jihadi movement and its effect on the evolution in jihadi online platforms. This book maintains that the source of the terror that we condemn is definitely not from a divine religion, and that there is no room for terrorism
