About the Book
Kashmir Intifada is the first hand account of the historial events, which led Kashmiri youth to pick up arms against the Indian State, with the air of securing right of self determination - Azadi. The enoneous central government policies and their failure to finally settle the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the people of the state, for the last more than six decades, drove them to the wall, compelling them to use violent means. Kashmir Intifada is in fact the history of esistance movement of state.
Failure of Pakistani leadership in 1947 to acknowledge the popular leadership of the state led to their failure to secure the accession of the state has been examined in detail. Their attempt to forcibly annex the state laid the foundations of the conflict.
Moreover, utter failure of Indian Security forces guarding the LOC, coupled with the failure of State nd central intelligence agencies, to prevent Kashmiri youth crossing the LOC for arms training and their subsequent return with arms, is a sad commentary on their functioning. More serious dereliction of duty by them is the acqurescing of the broad day mass exodus of Kashmiri youth to Pak from Dumari Gali in North Kashmir in winters of 1990 amounts to treason on the part of entire chain of command of armed forces. This dereliction of duty pushed the state into death and destruction.
The circumstances leading to exit of the author from police service as a result of policy clash with the Central and State Governments, forcing him to hang his boots, have been brought out in detail with the long term consequences of their enoneous policies witch followed.
In order to exercise direct control over the state the centre always faisted fake governments on the people of the state denying them their genuine democratic rights right from 1953. Many historical episodes having bearing on the armed conflict in the state, hitherto not disclosed, have been exposed thoroughly in this volume.
Lastly the author has also proposed a formula for final settlement of Kashmir dispute for being debaed by the civil society of both countries and lso people of the state living on both sides of the divide.
