Of the many small and big obstacles to cordial ecumenical relations and possible communion, two stand out; the role of the Pope and the place of Mary, mother of Jesus, in the devotional practice and doctrine of the various churches. Not much literature, however, is available on Mary at an easily accessible level. Dr. Santiago Raja's book is, therefore, a very precious and welcome addition to ecumenical literature.
