A good team of field assistants is a core part of every field research project. However contributions from the local community often lie buried as acknowledgements or as footnotes in the PhD theses, books, reports, and scientific papers. These stories aim to bring these contributions to the fore. Written by wildlife biologists who have carried out research work in Arunachal Pradesh, they highlight the valuable contributions made by the local assistants in shaping wildlife research, and how their inputs have helped in wildlife conservation. This anthology is an attempt to capture some snapshots of people, places, incidents and experiences that form part of the mosaic of wildlife conservation.
