The book is an attempt of the author to discuss the dynamics of the world of politics in a tribe of Uttarakhand-Bhoksa. Bhoksa is a particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group. The book explores the elements of the traditional political organization of the Bhoksa and attempts to understand the transition and adaptation which it has witnessed with the inception of statutory leadership brought in by the democratic decentralization goal of the Panchayati Raj which ushered in a system of elected leadership and participatory development. Political organization of the Bhoksa is understood in their relationship with the non Bhoksa which is marked by latent animosity due to a hisotry of exploitation of the Bhoksa by the non Bhoksa. The book, based on ethnographic research throws light on the felt experiences of the Bhoksa as they adjust, fear, cope, befriend, and appease the powerful non Bhoksa for their survival and for more.
