About the Book

The book hopes to break new ground by approaching and delving into the Gnostic mysticism in Sufism. It begins with an explanatory note on Sufism and works done on it. The introductory chapter speaks of Gnostic Sufism which is rooted in the four basics i.e Shariat, Tariqat, Haqiqat and Marufat, thus to understand Sufism we need to study the Qur'an, the Sharia (Islamic law), and above all the Prophet Muhammad to clearly understand its precepts. It also discuss Sufi origin, ways and orders followed by general introduction on poetry, influence of Persian literature on the world literature. The first chapter also discuss Sufi Poetry in detail, its characteristics and finally a brief discussion has been carried out on the elements present in the poetry of the three Sufi poet Rumi Hafiz and Bulleh Shah. The main body of the book seeks to explore the Sufi Poetry of Rumi, Hafiz and Bulleh Shah.The book has been selected not only from the Academic point of view but to establish beyond all doubt that Sufism is perhaps one of the Greatest expression of love and peace the world has witnessed. About the Author Dr Suraiya Yasmin, born in a small village, New Bhaitbari, West Garo hills, Meghalaya, India. She has completed her PhD& Masters in English from North-Eastern Hill University, Meghalaya, India. She has to her credit six research publication in peer reviewed/ Scopus indexed/UGC care listed journals. She has presented research paper in regional, national, and international seminars and conferences. Her research interest include poetry, Sufi poetry, women empowerment, religious, cultural and gender studies.
