About the Book
Dr. Sachchidanand Sinha was a constitutionalist in the league of Indian public leaders in the latter half of the nineteenth century and the early years of the twentieth. He broke the conservative social custom of not travelling the seven seas and became the first Bihari Hindu to be a Bar at Law in 1893. Against his family’s wishes he left for England in 1890 and returned to India in 1893 when he set up his law practice in Calcutta and Allahabad. He was active in the public life of the country since 1893 itself when he aligned with Mahesh Narayan and others for the creation of the separate province of Bihar as separated from Bengal. Ever since the Morley-Minto Reforms were implemented in 1910 he continued to hold some or other constitutional post and remained active in public life of the country until his death in 1950.
