In opposition to the rise of Indian Nationalism, there was also the rise of Nationalism in the name of religion-Muslim Nationalism and Hindu Nationalism. These loosely termed Religious nationalisms are opposed to democratic ethos of Equality. This book deals with the rise of Hindu nationalism and the type of perceptions it created against religious minorities-Muslim and Christians. It created a whole communal narration of past and present. This narrative of sectarian nationalism is divisive and sows the seeds of hate against minorities, which in turn lead to violence and polarization in the society. Today our Indian nation is faced with the grave implications created by the propaganda of Hindu nationalism. While Gandhi’s Hinduism is inclusive, this dominating Hindu nationalism is divisive to the core.
