About the Book

The book highlights the need for repurposing and revamping higher education to meet the challenges of the 21st century that have surfaced following digital revolution and pandemic situations like the Covid-19. It tries to provide the key insights for wholesome governance and leadership of universities through practical suggestions on academic, administrative, and fiscal reforms. It suggests the ways for implementation of New Education Policy-2020 and restructuring degree courses. It also explains how the regulatory and ranking bodies can play their roles in promoting quality education and research in universities. It pleads for disengagement of regulatory bodies from controlling universities and allowing them to build their own brands. The book provides wholesome insights into the key issues of governance and leadership, within the existing framework, through practical suggestions on academic, administrative, and fiscal reforms which also underscores the point that our Higher Educational Institutions need new, imaginative, sustainable governance architecture to become globally competitive, effectively implement NEP-2020, restructure academic offerings in real-time, and restore primacy of research and creative pursuits. It emphasizes the pivotal role of quality in higher education and elaborates on the role of regulatory and ranking bodies in promoting quality education and research. It strives to provide insights for remodeling the universities and urges for reorganization of governance processes, enlightened leadership role of vice chancellors, contextualizing the curriculums, promotion of germane research, recognizing the transformative value of the internet on education, roles of HRDCs, SHECs and NAAC, reflections on the future of higher educations and universities, and so on.
