This book locates the whole issue of National Identities in the context of ongoing Cultural Globalization and argues that (a) cultural assimilation is quite ancient, (b) Multiculturalism is a global force by now, (c) examines the role of several factors in the formation of Global Culture, (d) conclusively demonstrates the role of culture in nation, state, and institution building, (e) local world of the globe is too vast to be captured in singular terms, and (f) fills some of the glaring gaps in the contemporary discourse of social sciences.
