About the Book

This book, “Scientific Development in Islamic Civilization” is a humble effort to highlight the scientific research conducted by Islamic scholars of the mediaeval world between the seventh and seventeenth centuries. The Quranic verses and the traditions of the Prophet, dealing with scientific enterprise, have also been analysed and quoted in this work. The works of the majority of Muslim scientists are also discussed in depth. The scientific development during the periods of various ruling dynasties and caliphates is properly mentioned in various chapters. Above all, the goal of writing this book is to make Muslims, in particular, and non-Muslims in general, aware of the glorious past of Islamic civilization, which has been washed out or purposefully ignored in historical texts these days.
