Skill India is an initiative of Indian Government, launched to empower the youth with skill sets which make them more employable and productive in their work environments. National Policies on Skill Development aim at creating a workforce empowered with improved skills, knowledge and internationally reorganized qualification to gain access to decent employment and ensure India’s competitiveness in the dynamic Global Labour Market. They aim at increase in productivity of workforce both in the organized and the unorganized sectors, seeking increased participation of youth, women, and marginalised sections, and to synergise efforts of various sectors and reform the present systems.
