This book has been written as per the findings recorded in the Doctoral thesis entitled “Socio - Economic Conditions of Scheduled Caste Out-Migrants of Kosi Plain: A Geographical Study” submitted in Patna University. It deals with social and economic consequences of out-migration from Kosi Plain with special reference to scheduled caste community. It contains in depth analysis of physical, environmental, social, economic and other factors responsible for their out migration. The book also discusses the struggle and efforts of scheduled caste people who out-migrated to different destinations and lead a strenuous life at the places of destination to maximize saving as well as remittance. Their remittances in turn are utilized by the dependents for improving their housing conditions, living style, providing better education, food and health facilities and to solve other family problems caused due to extreme poverty. It is expected that this book will enable the scholars of various disciplines like Geography, Sociology, Economics, Demography, Planning etc to know about this downtrodden community and the contemporary transformations which are taking place gradually and steadily.
