The way a police officer approaches a case has always been an enigma to those who are not part of the system. The book Songs of an Uncaged Parrot gives a glimpse into a few nail-biting cases handled by an upright police officer. It also lays bare the emotional and personal side of the author as he goes about solving the cases. Interestingly, this book also throws light on how politicians use their power to cage police officers and the author's courageous journey to rise above all political pressures and take a stand for what is right. Rajendra Shekhar was selected for the Indian Police Service (IPS), Rajasthan cadre, in 1957. He served in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for about 14 years in different capacities. He went on to first head the CBI as the Director and then the Rajasthan state police as the DGP. He has authored four books.
