The Baiga is in many ways an archetypal indigenous tribe. Much have been said and written about in various anthropological literatures, but Baiga tribes in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh have received minimum attention in the academic world. Although studies have been done on Baiga in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, there is hardly any literature available about Baiga tribe in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. This book aims to look into the various aspect of the life of the Baigas. Problems that tribal face, their demographic profile, education, health, nutritional and general status of the tribes in Uttar Pradesh. It gives an overview of the social structure, economic, education, political, language, cultural beliefs and practices and challenges faced by the Baigas in Sonbhadra.
