This book examines the leadership of the people of God through two lenses: the political and prophetic. It is based upon a study of I and II Kings. There is an increasing tendency for leadership in the church to turn inwards, and concentrate upon better stewardship of the organisation. Outward facing witness to a needy world is rooted in the pastoral. Scripture challenges us to recognise the importance of the political and of the prophetic. I and II Kings illustrates how these different approaches complement each other.
