This book, taking the same holistic approach as in the author's previous one on Gandhi, has tried to connect Nehru's thought and activities in different fields of his life. It first reveals Nehru's view of the world, the history, and India by re-reading his three major works (Chap. 1). It then analyses his dialogue with Gandhi. This part is reinforced by critically referring to Dipak Malik's view (Chaps. 2-3). A discussion of Nehru's economic policies follows, which is reexamined through the eyes of Jean Dreze and Amartya Sen from the point of view of poverty and development (Chaps. 4-5). The political activities of Nehru in the more usual sense, his politics, relations with Sardar Patel, and his foreign policy, are the theme of the next part of the book(Chaps. 6-8). The author has tried to make the Indo-Chinese relations, and the war of 1962, understandable as these are of enormous implications to the whole of Asia.
