ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Sir William Osler (1849–1919) was a Canadian physician and founding professor of Johns Hopkins Hospital, widely regarded as the "Father of Modern Medicine." Osler was also an author, historian, and co-founder of medical libraries, including McGill's Osler Library.
Thomas McCrae (1870–1935), a Canadian professor at Jefferson Medical College, was a student and colleague of Sir William Osler. Known for his quote "more is missed by not looking than not knowing," he co-edited The Principles and Practice of Medicine.
