The book is an attempt to focus specifically on how some remarkable work has been done in some Indian cities to bring about a substantial change in the public transport system and in improving mobility in cities. Each case study on public transport offers lessons for other cities to consider and follow and also highlights the role and relevance of the National Urban Transport Policy. About the Author: Dr M Ramachandran had a distinguished career in the Indian Administrative Service, spanning over 38 years. He was Chief Secretary, Uttarakhand, and then Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Urban Development for a period of four years. It was during his tenure that the annual feature of Urban Mobility India International Conference and the National Urban Transport Awards system was initiated.
