The book is written for everyone, especially the tea loving people. Tea as a beverage is enjoyed by all of us and is popular across the world. Tea gives us energy and refreshes our minds. But have we ever thought about the main producers of tea? Yes, women s labour is central to the economies of production and more so in the case of tea plantations. Women workers constitute more than 50 percent of the total work force in the tea estates. This book attempts to engage in studying a holistic picture of the women workers in the tea estates of Assam. For this purpose, two tea estates were selected in Dibrugarh, Assam and around 300 women workers were interviewed. By reading this book the tea lovers across the world can understand and know the real lives of the women workers who are the main producers of tea. This book will also be useful to researchers and academicians in the field of gender and work, industrial sociology and the various organizations of importance which are engaged in studying issues of women and work.
